~Hilton Head Island, SC

When I first moved to Hilton Head, I wanted to find a good church and some good restaurants.

My first new acquaintance at the first church I visited was a very famous chef from the Food Network. Robert Irvine reached out to me and made me feel welcome. His DINNER IMPOSSIBLE is such a fun show, and Robert Irvine's EAT! restaurant is a fabulous find.

I own and operate a small specialty gutter business and fancy myself as a Hilton Head ambassador to those who are visiting.

Just so happened, that I found myself telling visitors about the best restaurants that I knew about. And so I became inspired to list them on this website with pix, links, and Google maps.

Like me, I think those who come here are drawn to the beauty and majesty of the Atlantic Ocean's Hilton Head beach. Wow! I'm a bit of a fixture towards the south end of the Island, sitting and staring at the Ocean.

Interesting that anything cool that has been created says a lot about its creator. "For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" Rom1:20 KJV

How about you? Are you in awe of the Creator? He's also a Savior and His Father has become my Father.

Many, many people have convinced themselves that they'll make it to heaven if they live within a certain set of "good person" behaviors. "I don't this, I don't that."

But if I show up at your doorstep, it's your decision (not mine) whether or not I'm welcomed in.

Want to see God's written requirements to be a "good person" who is good enough to enter heaven? Take this "Good Person Test".

You've probably heard the very famous verse that says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

(John 3:16 NKJ)

But did you know what comes after that? These words:

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

"And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

To believe is not to just mentally assent to the facts of Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection. To believe is to put your complete trust in these truths.

How can I assist you on your spiritual journey?

A friend urged me to visit the rooftop dining area of this restaurant, which I did for lunch one day.

I felt like I was sitting in a very trendy area of Hollywood, California while I was out on that sunny lunchtime experience. Just very trendy.

But the food was the high point. Really, really nice steak fajita with black beans on the side.

The Gullah culture of our sea islands is heritage we're proud of. And no one upholds it in a culinary fashion like Chef David Vincent Young.

Chef David was the chef at the renowned Sea Shack for the longest, and now has his own place. A must-visit for you!

Besides the fish/shrimp/scallop/oyster dishes you've enjoyed from him, he also features beef brisket, lamb stew, a vegetarian menu and from-scratch desserts. Check his cookbook HERE>>

Featured on the Food Network's $40 a day with Rachael Ray. One of the locals' best kept secrets on Hilton Head's restaurants best list. You will thank me over and over for the Sea Shack. Lunch and dinner; a good one for take-home.

This place has Island style, nothing fancy -- just lots of fish and great sides. I like the blackened grouper sandwich with cole slaw & okra/tomatoes.

Signe's nearly 40 years on the Island make her place a signature stop for locals and tourists alike. This is another Hilton Head restaurant that was on Rachael Ray's $40 a day Food Network show.

Great breakfasts including Shrimp & Grits; lots of salads & sandwiches, specialty quiche and oodles of cakes, pies, and ooh-la-la. My shrimp and cheese frittata had a fabulous healthy salad on the side, plus a hot cup of joe. Eat inside or on the patio.

I love the fact that this bigger-than-life Food Network chef lives on our little island and has one of Hilton Head's very best restaurants tucked away on the south end.

eat!'s Chef is also a prominent national figure, as Chef Lee Lucier is often featured on Robert Irvine's DINNER IMPOSSIBLE program. This is the night out for the two of you! AND -why not do what I did - take a live cooking class with Robert Irvine? What a memory!!

There's a new rage called the Pizza Cone which you can experience at this neat little shop.

Your kids will love this baked pizza cone with a bottom that is sealed so it won't spill. Their CONO Italiano is spreading from this shop to locations around the country.

And with the lower-fat italian ice cream (gelato) in a bunch of flavors, your family can enjoy a fun beach break.

Ramona & John are from my hometown. Go Colts.

As a small businessman who knows the value of advertising, I was impressed that Catch 22 was reaching out for new business in the tough economic times. Not that they really needed it, though.

Beginning way before 6 pm, they were swamped. I was delighted by their early specials, and have been several times before adding them to this site.

On-site owners. That's huge!

Family-friendly to the max. Pete / Annette / Tom. She's a teacher and on my visit, she had 4 four-year-olds sitting at their very cool lunch counter, calling them by name!

When you see the owner of another great restaurant come in to eat, you know it's great. And my personal experience was fabulous. Tom really pours his heart into each pizza and calzone -- and you get to watch. Get there by 11:50 am for lunch to get a seat at the counter. Booths, too...

Wow! Redfish has such an awesome reputation on the island -- as should be! Fantastic choices on the menu, include lots of variations of food from the sea as well as plenty of interesting American favorites.

With a cool wine showroom right up front, you will enjoy each sip. They'll even let you purchase a bottle and enjoy it with your meal (minimal uncork charge).

This is where you and your honey enjoy lunch or dinner without the kids (although they're welcome, of course). A memory...

Tucked back near the Alligator Grille and Harris Teeter's Sea Pines Circle location is the infamous Brick Oven.

Yes, pizza. Yes, lots of grilled items. My first meal was a lovely filet with smashed potatoes and cooked-just-right grilled veggies. Wow.

But, check this -- Brick Oven is the musician's hangout! The owner, Mike Wilson, is a guitarist and attracts all sorts of musicians. Live music playing several nights a week in the most friendly island atmosphere. And the food is great....
